Program Overview
This KNEC‑examined Certificate prepares learners to function as perioperative/theatre technologists. It equips students with essential skills in pre‑operative patient preparation, scrubbing and circulating, surgical instrumentation, infection prevention & control (IPC), and post‑operative care support within the operating theatre team.
Focus on safe surgical practice, patient safety, and sterile techniques.
Balanced theory, simulation labs, and clinical practice.
Alignment with MOH and WHO surgical safety protocols.
Duration & Study Pattern
- Duration: 2 academic years (6 terms)
- Term format: ~12 teaching weeks + 2 assessment weeks
- Weekly rhythm: Theory & labs (Mon–Thu) • Clinical rotations (Fri/Sat)
Teaching & Learning
- Lectures, case studies, theatre demonstrations
- Simulation lab: scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and basic instrumentation
- Operating room drills: patient positioning, counts, and safety checklist use
- Clinical placement rotations in partner hospitals
