Prepare to lead impactful health initiatives at the community level. This KNEC-examined diploma blends public health, health promotion, data collection, program planning, and community development to equip you for field work and NGO programs, county health services, and grassroots projects.
Duration & Study Pattern
- Duration: 3 academic years (9 terms)
- Term format: ~12 teaching weeks + 2 assessment weeks
- Weekly rhythm: Mon–Thu theory/practical • Fri/Sat fieldwork/community projects

Field Placements
- County/Sub-county health offices (programs & surveillance)
- Public & faith-based facilities (MCH, CCC, OPD health talks)
- NGOs/CSOs running community health, WASH, HIV/TB, or nutrition projects
- Community Health Units (CHV engagement, household visits, outreaches)
Logbook: competencies signed by supervisors (education sessions, data tools, referrals, reports).
Assessment (KNEC)
- Coursework (40%) — CATs, presentations, field logs, mini-projects
- Finals (60%) — KNEC written exams + practical/portfolio defense
- Project/Practicum: community-based capstone with report & presentation
Entry Requirements
- KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus) or higher
- C- in English/Kiswahili and Biology
- D+ in one of: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Agriculture, Business
